We worked with a local primary school exploring what is seasonal and local and creating a whole school soup. Cooked over the fire in their lovely forest school and served, in two sittings, to the whole school of over 200 children. We were really pleased to see how many children came back for seconds!
Why stone soup? The day was based around the folk tale when a traveller arrived in the village with a stone and a cooking pot but managed to create a rich and flavoursome soup with it! The themes are community engagement and sharing. In our version the villagers had become used to living in boxes, watching boxes and eating out of boxes so were a little shocked when they had to dig up food from the ground and actually prepare and cook it.
